September 1

On September 1, the new school year began with a church service in Talsi Lutheran church. This fall Talsi Christian school has reached a record high number of students. There are more than 260 students in Talsi Christian school this year. 26 students started their studies in the first grade, which also is a new record. It is also the biggest number of students in one grade this far. Our dear friend, pastor from Texas- Rex Jackson greeted everyone at the church service. Our school’s principal Inguna Gruzniņa also gave a welcome speech. 6th grade student Marta Kalāce and 10th grade students Agate Kniploka, Sanda Stepka and Ivanda Stepka greeted everyone with musical performances. At the end of the church service, the principal invited all of the 1st grade students together with their teacher Ligita Treimane to come in front. A graduate of our school Lidija Ēce has come back as a 11th grade teacher and a music teacher. Another graduate of our school Anete Ankmane has decided to come back as an extracurricular work organizator and the head of our school’s student council.
After the church service everyone gathered at the school’s backyard where the 5th grade student Ričards Sproģis hoisted the Christian flag and, with the bell ringing, everyone went to their first lessons.

Teachers’ day

Teachers’ day took place on October 3, in which our school’s teachers had a special assignment – to dress up as kolkhoz workers. After school, Milda, Sarma and other TCS Student council members welcomed the teachers in the school’s backyard, where it was announced to them that the principal was kidnapped and that they had to complete several tasks to redeem her.
The teachers were brought to a guest house “Mēnesnīcas” where they had to put firewood in a shed, mow the grass and rake leaves. After all the hard work, the teachers and the students danced and sang together. Our wonderful teachers did a great job and welcomed the principal back with a standing ovation. After lunch the teachers enjoyed a refreshing sauna.
At the end of the day, the students said a big “thank you!” to the teachers for their investment in us.
