Leadership Camp 2019

During the Autumn Holiday week from October 19 to 22, Talsi Christian Secondary School hosted the annual Leadership Camp. Each student from grades 8 to 12, as well as all teachers were invited to participate in the camp. This year’s camp was led by our long-known friends from the USA: Matthew McIntyre, Eric Dennis and Charles Pendley.

Each of the four days, Matthew McIntyre spoke on how to be a true leader and how to develop leadership skills. Eric Dennis and Charles led games that created new friendships by bringing students together. On October 20, the school held a church service that was open to everyone – not just the camp participants, but anyone who was interested. Each morning of the camp began with praise; later the pupils had their own free time to reflect on and discuss what they had heard. The camp also included volleyball competitions at the Talsi Sports House, where students competed, while the rest tried to support athletes wholeheartedly. On October 21, the students ran an annual race at the store «Rimi», where students had seven seconds to grab everything they want and it would be American-sponsored. On October 22, the final lectures were held and we said goodbyes to our American friends.

We are grateful to the camp leaders for the wonderful time they spent in meaningful conversations and fellowship-building activities, and for the resources they used to make this camp happen. Gratitude to every student and teacher who took their time to take care of their spiritual growth and, above all, gratitude to God for His presence. «Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.» /1. Thessalonians 5:18/
